The Cross Africa cycle team will be pedaling a distance of approximately 9000km over 5 months. Our journey will take us across Africa from her Southern Tip, Agulhas, to her Highest Point, Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The route will lead us along the coast of South Africa before turning inland towards the Botswana border. Traveling up along the eastern boundary of the famed Delta, we will cross into Zambia via the Kazungula ferry. We will head for the Zambian capital, Lusaka, before setting out along the Great East Road to Chipata, and the Malawi border. Once through Lilongwe, we’ll coast down to the southern tip of Lake Malawi at Cape McClear. From there the route will run north along the lake shore until we reach Tanzania. Leaving the city of Mbeya, we will head for the coast in the direction of Dar Es Salaam. We head north from Bagamoyo towards our destination, Arusha, the capital of the northern safari circuit and our base for climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The route consists of 14 stages. Click the route link below for a description of the stages.
You can get involved by joining the cycle team. Ride with us from Agulhas to Kili or join one of the stages.*
